The Fruits of the Spirit - Gentleness and Self-Control.

Today we are going to talk about gentleness. God has given us all talents, some are big and others are small. In God’s eyes all talents are the same.

God wants us to work with our talents, mine is to be a Sunday school teacher and to pray for others.  To be kind towards others and gentle to people around me. Your talent might be, to look after the sick, to feed the hungry or to help mommy and daddy around the house.

We have all received these talents through the Holy Spirit, which has been left to us, to mold, to shape and guide us through our lives. If we are gentle in spirit everyone around us will see God working in our hearts and lives.

Gentleness, also means  “meekness”, it does not mean weakness. Rather, it is thankfulness towards God, and being polite (nice), the opposite of gentleness is anger and revenge towards others. It takes a true person to be gentle.

What is self-control? When you see a bowl of sweets, to have self-control, to not take one, but to first ask. When you have Self-control, you can control your temper and have patience with the people around you. To not speak evil towards a friend or neighbour, to have self- control in all we do and say in life.

The Moral of the story about Gentleness and Self Control

God wants us to give Him control of our lives. With the wisdom given to us by the Holy Spirit, we can become a powerful tool for Gods kingdom.

Every person can receive this gift. We can speak words that influence others: We can act in a way that can help or hurt: we can choose what influences will inform our words and actions.

To be gentle is to recognize God's ways, it is to our advantage to have a gentle attitude towards God. He is everlasting and we are not.

God knows everything of the past, present and future. When we are filled with the spirit of gentleness, we will correct others with love instead of anger, knowing that their salvation is far more important than our pride."

Jesus must become greater; I must become less. Gentleness also means to give up ourselves in service to others. God is not concerned with our comfort, He is more concerned with our spiritual growth and he knows how to improve us far better than we can.

With each Sunday school lesson, I try to give the kids special verses, activities and pictures to color in.

Below you will find the download links for the special verse of the day and more.

About Our Lessons

Dear Sunday school partners, all around the world. Please refer to your Bible and compare to see if you agree with our children Sunday school lessons.

The stories are not word for word out of the Bible, they are created from my own thoughts. I am only human, so please check the stories out first before using them.

These stories are based on easy words for children to understand, and my own thoughts. You are welcome to use your Bible to add or take away. At the bottom, there is space for you to give input and comments on the subjects. You are all welcome. We are there to make a difference in a child’s life so please come and let us work together for God’s kingdom.
