Many years ago, there was a very special man called Daniel. Daniel’s name means “God is my judge”. He loved God and prayed to God every day of the week. He was a good man and did what God told him to do.
Why? Because he loved God with all he’s heart. Daniel worked for a king called Darius. Darius and Daniel had a good relationship with each other. The people around king Darius were very jealous of Daniel.
The people asked king Darius to make a law that everybody in the land should worship him as the only king, and no other kings, for 30 days.
The king scratched his head and thought about it and said, “That’s a good idea”, and he agreed to it.
The people said to the king, “those who do not do so, should be put into a den with lions.” And the king agreed to this.
These lions were very hungry, because they were not given food for quite a while.
Daniel knew that if he prayed to God, that the people would tell the king and he knew what would happen to him, but that was not going to stop him from doing so.
Daniel got onto he’s knees and prayed to God and the people saw what Daniel was doing and they took Daniel and put him into the loins den.
You know what happened next? NOTHING! An angle of the Lord came down and closed the loin’s mouth. That is how God protected Daniel from the loins.
Explain to the children how Daniel teaches us to be brave and to stand firm in the things that we believe, even when others laugh and tease us.
We must always stand up for God. Trust in His word. That is how people will see, that we belong to Jesus.
Ask the children questions for example:
1) What did Daniel do?
He prayed to God and God protected him from the loins.
2) What does Daniel’s name mean?
God is my judge.
1) Judge: A person who has the law on his side and he has the right to judge others.
2) Jealous: Is when someone else has something that you would like to have, and you are not happy that they have it.
With each Sunday school lesson, I try to give the kids special verses, activities and pictures to color in. Below you will find the download links for the special verse of the day and more. Please feel free to use them as you like for personal use in your own Sunday school classes. The wording and any images on this website are not to be sold or reproduced in any publications online or offline. I drew these pictures so that you could add your own verses to them for the day. Color the edgings with marker pens and a little bit of glitter. You can hand them out to the children to take home as bible verses for the day, even better if each child has a separate book, they can paste it into their own book. Dear Sunday school partners, all around the world. Please refer to your Bible and compare to see if you agree with our children Sunday school lessons.
The stories are not word for word out of the Bible, they are created from my own thoughts. I am only human, so please check the stories out first before using them.
These stories are based on easy words for children to understand, and my own thoughts. You are welcome to use your Bible to add or take away. At the bottom, there is space for you to give input and comments on the subjects. You are all welcome. We are there to make a difference in a child’s life so please come and let us work together for God’s kingdom.
