Long ago God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth to visit Mary. Gabriel saw that Mary was very frightened, so he spoke softly to her and said “Fear not Mary”, he said, “for you have found favor with God and you will bear a son and you shall call him Jesus. He will be the king of the Israelites and will be their savior, He will save them of their sins. The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of God will be upon you and you will be blessed to bear a child.
Mary accepted what the angel had said to her and the angel Gabriel left her. The angel also appeared in a dream to Joseph. In the dream Joseph was told to take care of Mary and help her look after Jesus.
Mary became pregnant and Joseph was afraid that the people would find out that she was pregnant, because if they knew they would have stoned her, because she was not married. Shortly thereafter they got married.
Months passed by and then Joseph and Mary heard that a new law was in place and they had to pay their taxes, so they went to Bethlehem. There was no place in the inn, so the innkeeper offered his stable. Joseph found some clean straw and Mary found an empty manger, which they could use for the birth of the baby. Baby Jesus was born in a manger, our Savior, the one who died for all our sins.
In the field the shepherds were busy with their sheep at night. An angel appeared to them in a bright light. The angel spoke to them and said, “Jesus Christ, the son of God is born tonight. Follow the stars and go to Bethlehem. The baby was wrapped in swaddling clothes and is in a stable.”
They hurried off to see the baby. After seeing baby Jesus, they told everyone they met, what the angels had said about Jesus.

I drew these pictures so that you could add your own verses to them for the day.
Color the edgings with marker pens and a little bit of glitter. You can hand them out to the children to take home as bible verses for the day, even better if each child has a separate book, they can paste it into their own book.

These stories are based on easy words for children to understand, and my own thoughts. You are welcome to use your Bible to add or take away.
