My life started in a small town in the Cape. Mom was pregnant and I was two. Mom was a young woman with a small salary and a baby on the way.
(Proverbs 18:22 Wife) He who finds a (true) wife, finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.
My father did not think it was necessary to take care after his new family. He was supporting his mother.
(Mathew 19:5) God says, for this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they shall be one flesh. My mom’s best friend who owned a hotel was very concerned and offered a room to my mom.
(John 15:13) Greater love has no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends. My mom noticed that she could not leave me with my dad, because I would start to panic when I was around him. She then got a servant to look after me until she got home.
(Psalms 15:4 panic) In God I will praise His word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
Mom found out that dad was seeing someone else.
(Proverbs 6:32) Who ever commits adultery with a women lack heart and understanding, he who does it is destroying his own life.
My mother decided to confront this young lady and tell her that she was having an affair with her husband. (Mom also found out that dad married this woman, while he was married to her, his mother stood in for him in court.)
(Proverbs 19:5) A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he who breathes out lies shall not escape.
Mom got dressed and went right up to this woman’s home, knocked on the door. The young lady opened the door, and to moms surprise she was pregnant, so mom and this woman were pregnant at the same time.
My mother was shocked, but she did not have the heart to tell this woman why she was there.
(Psalms 73:26 heart) My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is my rock and my firm strength of my heart and my portion forever.
I hear he had sons, so they are my half-brothers, but have not met them. But pray that their father was a better father to them, and that my half-brothers are good fathers to their children.
(Proverbs 21:6) Train up a child in the ways he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.
I have no hard feelings towards this man, I do not know him.
(Mathew 6:14 forgiveness) For if you forgive people their trespassers (their reckless and willful sin, leaving them, letting them go, and giving up resentment, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
God has always had His hand on me, he has always and will always supply for all my needs, even when I did not know it, and he was there and is still there.
(Philippians 4:19) My God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Jesus Christ.
“Father, thank you for always molding, teaching, and guiding me in my life. Lord, if there is someone out there, that has the same background, I hope and pray that this will help them to overcome it, like I did. (Revelations 2:26 ) He that overcomes (is victorious )and who obeys my commandments to the (very) end (doing the works that pleases me), I will give him authority and power over the nations. Amen”
My own Dad was never there for my sister and I, but God had a great plan for us
(Romans 8:15 Gods plan) “for you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear: you have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”
Mom had good times and hard times too, she was our anchor. A hard worker running a hair dressing salon and supporting two children, it could not have been easy for her.
(Philippians 4:6-7 in hard times) “Be careful for nothing: but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request by made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ.”
(Psalms 9:1-2 good times) “I will praise you , O Lord with my whole heart will show forth all your marvelous works and wonderful deeds, will rejoice in you and be in high spirits’ will sing praises to your name Most High!”
I remember a time when mom’s body was covered with boils, she was so tired and run down, and she could so easily have given up on us. Mom is a strong woman in character and she was determined that her two daughters were going to prosper in life.
(John 14:27 be strong) “Peace I leave with you; my own peace I now give and bequeath to you . Not as the world gives do I give to you do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
I was eleven and my sister was nine when mom remarried. This man became our dad, and I thank God for him, he loved us as his own. He adopted us and made us his own; we received a dad and also his name.
Dad has passed away and I believe that he is with God. As an adult I am a child of God and I know that I am adopted by Jesus Christ, God is my Father.
(Ephesians 1:4-5 adoption) “According as He has chosen us in Him before the foundations of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love: having predestined us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.”
God has a good plan for us all.
