Noah's ark Sunday school lesson

noahs ark sunday school lesson

God saw that the hearts of the people in the world had turned to evil. The people were lying, cheating and killing one another.

God saw there was one good man amongst them. And this man was called Noah. He was 500 years old. Noah had a close relationship with God and listened when God spoke to him.

God spoke to Noah and told him that the people had turned evil and that He is was going to destroy the earth.

So God said to Noah that he must build an ark. Noah asked God, “What is an ark? “It’s a Big box, that will float on water and it will be called a boat” Noah did not really understand what God was saying. God explained to Noah exactly what to do and said that it will be longer than a rugby field and higher than a three story building. It will have one large door and windows beneath the roof. This Big boat is called an ark.

Noah had doubt, but knew God had a purpose and he had to follow God’s command. So Noah did everything as God told him to do. Noah worked day in and day out and year after year on this big project. The people made fun of him because they had never seen rain before and continued living their lives in an evil way.

God told Noah that every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort; they shall be male and female. Of fowls after their kind, cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort will come to the ark and you are to feed them and keep them alive.

Once Noah had finished building the ark, the animals started walking side by side and made their way to the ark, climbing up the ramp, and in through the open door. You can imagine the sound and the activity that took place. Animals great and small, male and female went into the ark, until they were all in the ark.

The people were looking on in astonishment, but did not understand. They thought it is all very funny. They closed the big door and then it started to rain. God said to Noah “I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made, will I destroy from the face of the earth.”

Verse of the Day

With each Sunday school lesson, I try to give the kids special verses, activities and pictures to color in.

Below you will find the download links for the special verse of the day and more. Please feel free to use them as you like for personal use in your own Sunday school classes. The wording and any images on this website are not to be sold or reproduced in any publications online or offline.

I drew these pictures so that you could add your own verses to them for the day. Color the edgings with marker pens and a little bit of glitter. You can hand them out to the children to take home as bible verses for the day, even better if each child has a separate book, they can paste it into their own book.
