Jesus had friends called Martha, Mary and Lazarus. Martha and Mary were sisters and Lazarus was their brother. When Lazarus fell ill, his sisters sent a message to Jesus, "Lord, the one you love is sick." When Jesus heard this news, he waited two more days before going to Lazarus's village. Jesus, was not in a hurry because He knew that He would do great miracles for God’s glory.
When Jesus arrived in Lazarus's village, Lazarus had already been dead and in the tomb for four days. When Martha discovered that Jesus was on His way, she went out to meet him. "Lord," she said, "if you had been here, my brother would not have died." Jesus told Martha, "Your brother will rise again." But Martha thought He was talking about the final resurrection of the dead. Then Jesus said: "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die." Martha then went and told Mary that Jesus wanted to see her.
When Mary met Jesus, she was very upset over her brother's death. There were family and friends with her weeping and mourning. Deeply moved by their grief, Jesus wept with them. Jesus then went to the tomb of Lazarus with Mary, Martha and the rest of the friends and family. There He asked them to remove the stone that covered the burial place. Jesus looked up to heaven and prayed to his Father, closing with these words: "Lazarus, come out!" When Lazarus came out of the tomb, Jesus told the people to remove the bandages that were wrapped around Lazarus, which was called the grave clothes. There were many people who saw this miracle, most of them believed that Jesus was sent by God. But the sad part is there were still many that did not believe that He was send by God.
With each Sunday school lesson, I try to give the kids special verses, activities and pictures to color in. Below you will find the download links for the special verse of the day and more. Please feel free to use them as you like for personal use in your own Sunday school classes. The wording and any images on this website are not to be sold or reproduced in any publications online or offline. I drew these pictures so that you could add your own verses to them for the day. Color the edgings with marker pens and a little bit of glitter. You can hand them out to the children to take home as bible verses for the day, even better if each child has a separate book, they can paste it into their own book. Verses of the Day.
Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. “Take away the stone,” he said.
“But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.”
Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”

The Moral of the Story.
For younger children, lets talk about how we don't always know where are our parents taking us, but we trust them to take care of us. God is our heavenly Father, and although we may not always know ahead of time where He is taking us, we should trust that He will care for us at all times.
As children of God we believe nothing is impossible with God. He is the resurrection and the life and the everlasting One.
