Jesus appeared many times to his disciples, for the forty days so that his followers and his disciples could see and feel and also hear what he had to say. Jesus prepared them for the work that laid ahead. They knew that He had come back to life, but it was time for Jesus to leave them. Jesus led his friends and family to the Mount of Olives. .
“Soon, “he said, “God will send you his holy spirit. You will go forth and tell the people in the world about me and what I will do for them. My power will be upon you “, Jesus said.
Suddenly as Jesus was finished speaking, Jesus lifted up His hands and blessed them. Then He ascended to heaven, and the disciples lost sight of Him in a cloud.
Two angels appeared, all in white “they said in a loud voice, Jesus has gone to heaven, he will return one day in the same way you saw Him leave.
The disciples all gathered together, it was Pentecost day, all were worshiping and praising God. When suddenly a strong wind came from heaven, it seemed as if flames appeared and touched each one of the disciples.
They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and could speak in different tongues, that they had never spoken before. Some could speak French, others German. There were many other languages spoken that day. Peter stood up and addressed the crowd.
He told the crowd that if they repented and were baptized in Jesus Name, God would forgive them of their sin. Three thousand people were baptized that day. The disciples and the followers went out into the world to tell all about Jesus who had risen from the dead. Many of the disciples had to flee for their lives while spreading Jesus’s salvation. The holy spirit was their helper and today all across the world, people still gather together to hear God’s message. God says, ‘that I will pour out a portion of my spirit upon all flesh. With each Sunday school lesson, I try to give the kids special verses, activities and pictures to color in. Below you will find the download links for the special verse of the day and more. Please feel free to use them as you like for personal use in your own Sunday school classes. The wording and any images on this website are not to be sold or reproduced in any publications online or offline. I drew these pictures so that you could add your own verses to them for the day. Color the edgings with marker pens and a little bit of glitter. You can hand them out to the children to take home as bible verses for the day, even better if each child has a separate book, they can paste it into their own book. So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of the Father.
"I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven.
Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing.
Jesus sits on the right hand side of God and left the Holy Spirit behind as a helper to guide us through life. Jesus said," All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age." ( Matthew 28:18-20).
So you see, the Holy Spirit is sent to us by God the Father and God the Son to be with us as we strive to resist temptation and to practice virtue. We can rely on him to give us the spiritual gifts we need to persevere, and we can pray to him many times a day, simply saying, “Come, Holy Spirit!”
