After the passover meal, Jesus climbed up to the mount of olives. At the Mount of Olives, close to the Church of all Nations, you will find a small garden of olive trees, most of these trees are very old. Some of Jesus‘s friends went up with him to the garden of Gethsemane. Jesus spoke to them saying, “This very night, you will all run away and leave me.”
Peter, replied, “I will never do that” and Jesus said, “Before the cock crows, you will say three times that you do not know me.” Peter said, “I will never say that, even if I had to die with you. ”The other disciples agreed with Peter. Jesus took three disciples with him into the garden. They were called Peter, James and John. Jesus felt a sadness come over Him and He said, “I must go and pray, “Stay here and keep watch". And he went a little further into the garden and knelt on His knees to pray.
“O my Father, if it is possible, save me from this death, allow this cup to pass from me: but only if it is your will “ After a while he went back to Peter, James and John and found them fast asleep. He woke them up and asked them again to keep watch. Then Jesus left them again and went deeper into the garden and started praying to the Father. Every time He returned to the disciples, He found them fast asleep.
As He woke the disciples for the third time, He heard voices and saw the lights of torches entering into the garden. Judas, the disciple came up to Jesus with a large crowd of people with swords and clubs and there were chief priests and the elders of the church. They had come to arrest Jesus – Judas was leading them.
Judas said to the chief priest, “The man you want is the man I kiss." “He walked over to Jesus and kissed him on the cheek. The guards quickly surrounded Jesus. Peter, saw what was about to happen and drew his sword and cut off the ear of the chief priest’s servant. Jesus said “That’s enough!” And He reached out and placed the man’s ear back and everyone around saw the healing taking place. Jesus turned to the priests and the guards and said “Why have you come armed with swords and clubs as if I were a criminal?” The guards marched him off into the night. And if you can remember, Jesus said to Peter, “This very night, you will all run away and leave me.”And this is exactly what took place. All Jesus’s friends ran away, just as Jesus said they would. How sad and lonely Jesus must have felt when all his fiends left Him.

Moral of the story.
There was no other way for men to be saved than through the innocent suffering of the Lord Jesus This supernatural suffering that Jesus had to go through is for you and for me. Do not let this time go passed that you do not thank the lord, for all that His dear Son had to go through for you and for me. He is the only way, the truth, and the life. He is the everlasting one.
