Do you all still remember how God helped the Israelites get out of Egypt?
It was a very big move for all of them, just imagine, they did not have cars like we have, their only transport was camels and donkeys. They travelled for many years in the desert, until God showed them where to go.
The land that God showed them was called Jericho. There was only one problem, this city had very high walls. There was no way of getting into the city.
The Israelites walked right around the big city, but they could still not find their way into the city. Joshua was chosen to be the Israelites leader.
God told Joshua what to do, He told Joshua to take over the city. Joshua did exactly what God told him to do. God said “Walk around the city seven times and blow on the rams horn as well.”
The Israelites walked for six days and blew on the rams horn once a day. On the seventh day they blew extra hard and rejoiced as they did so, and the whole city’s walls fell into the ground. This is how God looked after his people. God looks after those that trust and believe in Him.
Let us explain the word rejoice and courage to the children.
It is the clapping of hands and shouting out in song to God. It is when you feel happy and joyful inside your heart.
Not to be afraid and to be brave like a lion. Growl....
Q. Was Joshua faithful to God?
A. Yes, he served God and followed Him with all of he’s heart.
Q. As a family of God, we should?
A. Serve the Lord, just like Joshua did.
With each Sunday school lesson, I try to give the kids special verses, activities and pictures to color in. Below you will find the download links for the special verse of the day and more. Please feel free to use them as you like for personal use in your own Sunday school classes. The wording and any images on this website are not to be sold or reproduced in any publications online or offline. I drew these pictures so that you could add your own verses to them for the day. Color the edgings with marker pens and a little bit of glitter. You can hand them out to the children to take home as bible verses for the day, even better if each child has a separate book, they can paste it into their own book. You can cut out the circles in the house of Joshua picture. Give the kids magazines to cut out family member faces, for sticking behind each window.
You could also ask them a week in advance, to bring old photos of their own family to stick behind the windows.
